"As I have said elsewhere am on a mission to prevent harm and to help people recover from the wounds and scars abusive relationships have left on them. I make my contribution with storytelling and poetry. However, it may be that on reflection after our learning together you feel you may benefit from further support. Catherine Christie provides counselling services and although I have no professional qualification with which to assess her skill, I have a personal trust in her ability to walk alongside those who are undertaking "The Untangling."

The word ’trauma’ seems to be everywhere these days. What happens when you explore it through a cultural lens? Find out as we bring together 24 Scottish authors whose work addresses that very question.
Which genre is your favourite? Fiction? History? Memoir? Education? Early Years? Parenting? Criminal justice? Cultural reflection? We’ve got all eight featured on the programme for this unique day. Hear from a range of authors, both established and new, whose writing helps us think more deeply about what trauma is like. We’ll dive into the lives of individuals, families, communities and generations, covering relationships, recovery, confronting suffering, and building a future based on well-being.
The event is hosted by Scotland’s ACEs Action Community, a network of people and organisations across the country who have come together to boost understanding about the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences. We’ve hosted lots of events to share our knowledge, but this is our first Book Festival! We cannot wait to welcome you to a relaxed day of fascinating conversations.
